It's Officially Vitamin D Deficiency Season.

Or as most refer to it, cold and flu season. It's no coincidence that lots of people typically becomes ill around this time. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas have a few things in common. We all over eat tons of sugary, delectable treats that deplete our bodies of essential nutrients. And none of us have been taught that it is imperative to replace these nutrients in proper and effective ways. We also spend a majority of this season indoors enjoying each other's company and keeping warm which keeping us away from the sun's wonderful Ultraviolet B (UVB) light. If you've never had a vitamin D deficiency, consider yourself very lucky. It's miserable and thought to be one of the causes of lupus. I know for myself, it was a miserable experience, and once addressed, my lupus completely disappeared. Some of the symptoms include muscle pain, bone pain, getting sick more often, weakness or tingling in the hands and feet, tremors and spasms, hair loss and depression. Just 20 minutes of sunshine per day (without sunscreen blocking absorption, of course) is enough for most people to mitigate these issues. That's a super simple and cheap remedy. Something else to consider is getting yourself some magnesium chloride flakes or a magnesium spray. This will help your body process and detox all the fun stuff we'll be eating over the next few months.

Sugar is one of the biggest culprits of several disease processes. Parasites and candida love to feed on it. So does cancer. If a virus enters a cell that is in a state of autophagy (the natural healing process of a cell through the removal of damaged or dysfunctional parts) and there is no sugar for it to consume, the virus will lose energy and cannot replicate. It dies. That just goes to show you how big of an impact sugar has on your overall health. It's not just tough on your teeth (which are in a constant state of remineralization or demineralization), but your pancreas and everything in between. Moderation is really the key with anything. In today's world, it is next to impossible to stay completely away from anything known to be toxic. Doing little things like going outside for the smallest portion of your day to bask in the sunshine, going for a walk to keep your lymphatic system (your detox pathways) open and moving and soaking your feet in a magnesium foot bath to replenish your reserves and help pull all the toxins out can have a drastic impact on your overall wellbeing. You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain here. Try this out this winter and see how you fare in comparison to years past!
